Ms. Gloria Lynne - Jazz Lyricist
Her signature song: I Wish You Love". The album of the same name I played, until I broke it. I went out bought another and the cassette while I was at it.
I interviewed her at Birland on West 44th in Manhattan, in the late 90's. In her entourage, was Duke, her manager and I couldn't believe it, Bernice, an old friend of mine who once managed the most popular jazz club, "Gerald's" in Queens in the 70's. I was so happy to see Bernice. I was mesmerized by Gloria Lynne.
Her big break came when she appeared on "Harry's Strolling 20's" a TV special, hosted by Harry Belafonte with stars Sidney Poitier, Sammy Davis Junior, Duke Ellington, and Diahann Carroll. She previously had won an amateur talent show at the Apollo.

Lynne was an accomplished writer and penned an autobiography, entitled of course, "I Wish You Love". She was working on a sitcom at the time of her death.
Her career included dozens of albums, and so many memorable songs. Yet she never made the
money.
