“Moon River”
FROM THE MOVIE: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
When I was young, I would sing this song over and over again.
And I was secretly in love with Andy Williams, (another crooner I had a crush on), especially in one of his groovy v-neck sweaters. In my fantasies, I wished I was his wife, the French singer, Claudine Longet, who appeared on his show a zillion times (pre-cursor to reality TV). She not only sang but danced. (pre-cursor to music videos). She was both elegant, and pixie-modelesque.

Back in those days, there were variety shows, and “The Andy Williams Show was one of the best.
His theme song was “Moon River”, which opened the show with the first 8 bars.
Celebrity guests were a big part of the variety show format.
Big Break: Landing a spot as a regular on "Tonight Starring Steve Allen" in 1954
Gold: He was primarily an album artist, and at one time he had earned more gold albums than any solo performer except Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and Elvis Presley.
Did you know? In the early 1970s, when the Nixon Administration attempted to deport John Lennon, Andy Williams was an outspoken defender of the former Beatle's rights to stay in the U.S.
A Moment: Andy Williams sang Ave Maria in the choir with tears rolling down his face, as the casket of Robert Kennedy was being wheeled to the altar, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC.
GOD BLESS: He leaves his wife Debbie and 3 children, Noelle, Christian, and Robert. He owned the Moon River Grill and the Moon River Theatre, in Branson, Missouri. Although he still performed, he suffered from bladder cancer for a year.
